"Singing is not who I am, it's what I do. If I can have a positive impact no matter how small on the world we live in today then with my last breath I will sing!" ~ Kate For Chilliwack British Columbia's 17 year old rising star Kate, being mentored by Canadian Icon Jann Arden for Jann's CBC radio show Being Jann, winning a spot in the Metropolis Glee Club, and becoming a finalist in the Valley Voices 2011 singing competition, brings her one step closer to realizing her dreams. Kate's vocal power, and range allow her to sing any genre, but she says that her style is definitely R&B. Kate's musical influences are Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, Shontelle, and more recently Adele. Her passion for singing started at an early age. She began taking singing and piano lessons at age 7, and has taught herself to play guitar. Kate has performed live at many venues including Fairs, Cafes, Festivals, Churches, Malls, and High school Musicals. People frequently say she has the voice of an angel. In describing Kate's voice recently someone said, "The difference between a good singer, and a great singer is that a good singer is around for song or two, and a great singer stands the test of time because when they sing they move you." When Kate sings it's infectious, she has a natural ability to draw you into the song, connect with her audience, and make you feel something." Kate plans to continue working hard toward her goal of becoming an international singer and performer. In June she finished recording her first self-titled demo cd, and is currently filming the music video for her single Kiss My Lips. She will be competing in the Valley Voices 2011 singing competition from July 28 - Aug 1, 2011.
